In 2025, financial wellbeing includes much more than budgeting and saving. It depends on emotional, mental, physical, and community health. Living a balanced, connected life gives you the resources to improve your finances, and yourself. Here at Affinity, we support our members’ holistic wellbeing through helpful resources, community events, and educational opportunities. Wellbeing has been in our DNA since our earliest days.

Since our founding in 1935, Affinity has operated on the classic credit union ethos of “people helping people.” We started by pooling resources and offering small loans to workers at the Western Electric company. Today, we’re a full-service financial institution for members of all kinds in multiple states, and we go the extra mile to meet their needs. Over a third of our front line employees and support staff are Certified Wellbeing Coaches¹, supporting our members and bolstering our people-first mission.

A credit union is a community that shows up to support you. Affinity proudly offers free resources to our members and communities. Last year, Affinity hosted nearly 240 financial education events with over 7,500 attendees. Our wellbeing strategy is built on real feedback from our members; we’re owned by a member community, and we work for our community in turn.

Throughout each year, we host workshops and webinars that build financial literacy. We find opportunities to get involved where communities gather, and we fill education gaps. As we look to the future of financial wellbeing, we particularly focus on educating students. We host financial reality fairs at high schools and colleges, giving students a chance to learn about key life expenses and budgeting. These fairs support mental and emotional wellbeing by giving participants knowledge and confidence. By starting early, Affinity empowers our community members to achieve lifelong financial wellbeing.

The future of wellbeing integrates financial services into daily life, making managing your financial life simpler, easier, and frees you up to focus more on what matters to you. That’s why we offer automatic savings tools, like our Debit Card Round-Up² feature, which help members take control of their money. Offerings like our High-Yield Checking Accounts³ empower members with competitive cashback rates and other perks. We’re constantly adding new services that our members need, like our Greenlight partnership⁴ to help parents with their children’s money management while helping kids learn about debit cards and financial basics. Every Affinity resource is designed to help support financial wellbeing, and we’re constantly evolving to meet member needs.

Beyond our proactive educational and financial tools, we work alongside the Affinity Foundation⁵ to help our communities access the resources they need. In 2024, the Affinity Foundation issued over $195,000 in grants and scholarships to support higher education, housing, and overall community health in New Jersey, Southern New York and Southern Connecticut. Affinity’s team believes in volunteerism, giving our time throughout the year and dedicating an annual Impact Day⁶ to volunteering. Our Wellbeing Awards⁷ recognize other organizations and individuals that lead the way in community wellbeing: physical, emotional, and financial. Together, these efforts build community, provide hope, and remind members they’re never alone.

Looking to the future of financial institutions, we see an increasing need for holistic member support. Wellbeing doesn’t exist in a vacuum; it requires balance between many aspects of a person’s life. Mental, physical, and financial wellbeing depend upon each other, and our members need a credit union that they can depend on. Affinity is leading the way to a future that integrates education, empathy, and community into every interaction.

For 90 years, we’ve expanded our definition of wellbeing and our community impact. We plan to keep doing this for the next 90 years, and beyond. Our commitment is, and always has been, to support our members, even as their needs change through technology, accessibility, and personal connection. The future of financial wellbeing belongs to each member, with Affinity behind you each step of the way, supporting you not as an account number, but as a whole person.
