Gas prices have skyrocketed in recent months, with new records being set across the country just as Americans take to the road for summer vacation season. The cost to reach any destination - be it your daily commute or to reach your favorite seasonal getaway1, is much higher as consumers feel the pain at the pump.

Prices have started to retreat in recent days, but national averages are still well above normal rates, with some areas of the U.S. seeing prices over $6 per gallon, according to AAA data2 (as of 6/30/22). There are several factors contributing to these higher prices, including geopolitical unrest, COVID-era supply and demand imbalances, and ongoing supply chain issues.

With inflation driving prices higher and impacting consumers’ bottom lines, looking for ways to save on everyday and essential expenses3 like gas is key. Our team found several apps that make saving on gas straightforward and easy. Here’s how to save on your next fill up.

  1. Gas Buddy – This is one of the most popular gas savings apps available. It allows users to link a bank account to the GasBuddy card and save up to 25 cents per gallon. This requires a debit card on file versus a credit card.
  2. GetUpside – Customers can save up to 25 cents per gallon, including at some of the most popular stations, as well as seeing savings at select restaurants and on groceries in select cities. Users can pay with a linked card.
  3. Fuel Rewards – Powered by Shell, the app can save users between five and 20 cents per gallon. It can also be linked to a Stop and Shop card to save more when purchasing groceries. Savings per gallon are increased by dining out, shopping online or booking a flight.
  4. BPme Rewards – BP customers can save five cents per gallon at BP and Amoco stations.

Want to amplify your savings efforts? Link any of these apps to your Affinity Cash Rewards Visa® Signature Credit Card4. The app benefits paired with the card benefits can help reduce the burden families are in their everyday spending. The benefits include standard rewards is 2% cash back and with periodic added bonus rewards you can earn up to 7% cash back.
