Celebrating International Women’s Day: Empowering Women in Business
Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we commemorate the incredible achievements and contributions of women worldwide. It’s a day to celebrate progress, acknowledge challenges, and commit to further empowering women in all spheres of life, including the communities in which we serve.
In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, women are breaking barriers, shattering glass ceilings, and paving the way for future generations. From entrepreneurs to executives, women make their mark and reshape industries with innovation, resilience, and determination.
This year, we wanted to celebrate International Women’s Day by highlighting some of the remarkable #AffinityFCU women and draw inspiration from our very own:
Pam Cohen, Chief Administrative Officer:
On International Women’s Day, I’d like to reflect on the following quote from an unknown author:
“Here’s to strong women.
May we know them.
May we be them.
May we raise them.”
To all women out there, may you be confident enough in yourself, know that you are enough, and celebrate yourself today.
Antinea Middleton, AVP Retail Operations Excellence:
“Our greatest successes are on the other side of our most difficult circumstances.” -A Middleton
Ginny Garbowski, AVP Sales Enablement:
Today, I am drawing inspiration from Serena Williams, “Every woman’s success should be an inspiration to another. We’re strongest when we cheer each other on.”
There often is the reaction to compete or see our weakness in other women’s strength—that’s the opposite of my experiences. The women I work with inspire me to be better, learn more, grow each day, and challenge myself. Together, we’re creating an amazing foundation for the next generation and building each other up to do more for ourselves and our members.
Shindora Knox, AVP Market Manager:
“Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness.” - Oprah Winfrey
This quote motivates me to step out of my comfort zone, try new things, and take risks. If it doesn’t work out as expected, I learn from it and use that knowledge to move on.
“You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.” - Maya Angelou
My advice to any woman is to find what matters to you and pursue your passion. When you find something you love and are passionate about, you will work at it with pride and purpose—you will inspire others to succeed.
On this International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate the achievements of women in business, amplify their voices, and work together to create a stronger, more inclusive world. Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur, a budding professional, or someone navigating the complexities of the corporate world, remember that your voice, your contributions, and your presence matter. Let’s always remember to support and uplift one another and continue the journey toward a future where every woman has the opportunity to fulfill her potential and achieve her dreams.
Happy International Women’s Day! Remember, you are capable, you are powerful, and you are unstoppable.
