June 21, 2023 – The Affinity Foundation’s annual scholarship program was created to support students in their pursuit of higher education at two- or four-year colleges or universities.  Each year the applications get more competitive, as students are evaluated on both their academic performance, as well as their commitment and leadership in their community.  Since the scholarship program launched in 2005, the Foundation has awarded $216,000 in scholarships to local students.

This year, the Foundation’s Scholarship committee selected six winners.  The selection process was no easy feat due to the quality of the applications. Each recipient has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

On behalf of the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee, we extend our sincere congratulations to the following students and thank all students who took the opportunity to apply:

  • Christian Cordova, Fitchburg University, Class of 2027
  • Charlotte Eriksen, University of Connecticut, Class of 2027
  • Elodie Flanagan, University of Notre Dame, Class of 2027
  • Valencia Julien, Temple University, Class of 2027
  • Christopher Lee, The University of Pennsylvania, Class of 2027
  • Sarah Manasier, North Carolina State University, Class of 2027

The Affinity Foundation would like to commend each scholarship recipient this year for their dedication and perseverance in their schoolwork and for being a leader in their communities.

The accomplishments from this class of scholarship winners are outstanding,” said Karla Wallack, Executive Director of the Affinity Foundation. This scholarship class includes international musicians, published authors, and actresses. Some accomplishments may be less public than others but no less impressive, including becoming an EMT, or overcoming significant homelife obstacles like being orphaned or taking on a leadership role in your family at a young age. The Affinity Foundation is honored to be a part of these students’ journeys and can’t wait to see everything they accomplish.
