Affinity Foundation Announces 2022 Scholarship Winners
The Affinity Foundation’s annual scholarship program was created to support students in their pursuit of higher education at two-or-four-year colleges or universities. Since the scholarship program launched in 2005, the Foundation has awarded $201,000 in scholarships to local students.
“We had an extremely strong pool of applicants who are not only committed to their coursework and career aspirations, but also to giving back to their communities. As a result, we are proud to say we expanded the program to six winners for 2022,” shared Karla Wallack, Executive Director of the Foundation.
This year, the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee unanimously agreed to increase the number of scholarships awarded, and has selected six well-deserving students who will each receive $2,500 for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. Students are evaluated on academic performance and demonstrating leadership through their extracurricular activities, community involvement and work experience.

Affinity Continuing Education Scholarship has been awarded to Trish Elleston who is currently studying for her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Temple University.
Robert Birkhahn Community Spirit Scholarship has been awarded to the following students:
- Arjun Kulkarni, attending the Granger School of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign
- Emily Lu, studying Political Science at Barnard College
- Gabriella Robinson, attending Seton Hall University
- Kayla Kwinta, studying Biology at the University of South Florida
- Pia Piazza, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Materials Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology
