Affinity Foundation Donates $18,500 to Nonprofit Organizations

Basking Ridge, N.J. (March 5, 2021)  – The Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation is pleased to announce its grant recipients for the fourth quarter of 2020, having issued $18,500 to five organizations. The Foundation supports organizations aligned with its mission of providing our members and our communities with solutions to improve financial wellness, educational programs that enable self-sufficiency, and support that ensures access to essential health care services.

“Affinity couldn’t be prouder to support local organizations as we work toward the common goal of uplifting our communities. SHORE/ICARE, one of our grant recipients, shared a story of ‘Meredith,’ a woman who became homeless with her two children after leaving an abusive relationship,” said Karla Wallack, Executive Director of the Affinity Foundation. “The family eventually found SHORE, who provided them with a safe, stable apartment. SHORE strives to help homeless families like Meredith’s become stabilized and independent in their homes, while enabling them to pursue their choices for education, work and fulfillment.”

The following nonprofit organizations received funding from the Affinity Foundation:

Central Jersey Housing Resource Center in Somerville, NJ will utilize its $4,000 grant to support its mission of providing very low, low and moderate income individuals and households with the information they need to make informed and reasonable decisions to achieve their housing goals.

Good News Home for Women in Flemington, NJ received $2,500 to support their life skills curriculum, which helps prepare its residents for re-entry into the workforce and provides them with valuable tools needed for independent living.

Homes with Hope in Westport, CT will use its $2,500 grant to support its programs dedicated to assisting residents in Fairfield County who are experiencing homelessness and transitioning them to independent living.

Sheltering the Homeless is Our Responsibility/Interfaith Council for Affordable Residence Inc. (SHORE/ICARE) in White Plains, NY received $2,000 as a first-time grantee to support its programs that provide and maintain permanent homes for homeless families so they can thrive in a healthy and safe environment.

Visions and Pathways in Bridgewater, NJ received $7,500 to provide continued support of its program, which provides abused, neglected, homeless and missing youth with housing, a stable environment and supportive services that help them become self-sufficient.
