Affinity Federal Credit Union Donates More Than 2,400 Pounds of Food to NJ, NY and CT Pantries

Basking Ridge, N.J. (April 10, 2019) – The Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation hosted its “Affinity Fights Hunger” food drive in branches and online, resulting in more than 2,400 pounds of donated goods from its members, community partners and staff. The annual event aims to counteract the low number of food bank donations in the new year following a busy holiday season.

Compared to last year’s total of nearly 752 pounds, the Foundation more than tripled its donations in 2019. From February 2 through February 28, the event supported the following food banks in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut:

    • Center for Food Action (Bergen County, NJ)
    • Flemington Area Food Pantry (Hunterdon County, NJ)
    • Hands of Hope (Middlesex County, NJ)
    • Lunch Break (Monmouth County, NJ)
    • Interfaith Food Pantry (Morris & Union Counties, NJ)
    • Food Bank Network of Somerset County (Somerset County, NJ)
    • People to People (Rockland & Westchester Counties, NY)
    • Connecticut Food Bank (New Haven & Fairfield Counties, CT)

In addition to food contributions, the Foundation donated $550 to each of the following banks:

    • Food Bank Network of Somerset County (Somerset County, NJ)
    • People to People (Rockland & Westchester Counties, NY)
    • Connecticut Food Bank (New Haven & Fairfield Counties, CT)
